How to Become Fluent in English Using AI (for Free)
I created a course to help people who can't afford English classes turn AI into their personal English tutor.
If you've ever wished you had a private English teacher available whenever you needed one, this newsletter is for you.
Today, I'll show you how to use AI the right way; not as a tool that gives you quick answers, not like Google to search for information, but as a private tutor that can help you improve your English every day.
Most people use ChatGPT the same way they use Google.
They ask one question, get one answer, and then move on to the next thing.
Others treat it like a casual conversation, asking whatever comes to mind without any clear direction.
The problem is that this approach doesn't create a learning system.
If every prompt is random, every answer is random too.
Most English learners use AI like this:
Student: Teach me English.
AI: Sure! Today we'll learn the Present Perfect tense...
AI: Would you like some practice exercises?
?
Student: Give me 20 phrasal verbs.
AI: Here are 20 common phrasal verbs...
AI: Would you like 20 more?
Student: Explain the difference between say and tell.
AI: Here's the difference...
Would you like me to tell you the difference between speak and talk?
Student: Write an essay for me about the dangers of smoking.
AI: Sure. Here’s a 5 paragraph essay with the title you asked...
Would you like me to make any changes?
This is the worst way to use AI.
There’s no connection.
There’s no learning.
And you will not remember anything AI tells you.
There is no plan, no progression, and no personalization.
Every conversation starts from zero, so AI becomes nothing more than a search engine.
That's why many learners think, "ChatGPT is helpful, but I'm still not improving."
That's a huge missed opportunity.
AI can do much more than answering random questions.
It can become your personal language coach.
Imagine having a tutor that understands:
➪ your English level
➪ your goals
➪ your interests
➪ your native language
➪ your culture,
➪ and even your biggest weaknesses.
A tutor that creates lessons just for you, explains mistakes in simple English,
gives you speaking practice, and is available 24 hours a day.
A tutor that remembers exactly what you studied yesterday and start with a new lesson.
A tutor that helps you set specific goals.
Here’s one example:
You: "Create a 6-month plan to study English fluency every day for 30 minutes. Before you create the plan, ask me questions so you can personalize it. I will tell you how I want to practice."
AI: Great! Before I create your learning plan, I need to understand your goals.
1. What is your current English level?
2. Why are you learning English?
3. Which skill do you want to improve first (speaking, listening, vocabulary, grammar, or writing)?
4. What topics are you interested in?
5. What is your native language?
6. What are your biggest challenges when speaking English?
7. How much time can you study each day?
Once you answer these questions, I'll create a personalized 6-month learning system with daily lessons, speaking practice, review sessions, and progress checks designed specifically for you.
The best part?
Stop Asking for Help Randomly
One of the biggest mistakes English learners make is opening ChatGPT and typing random prompts like:
"Teach me English."
"Give me vocabulary."
"Help me with grammar."
It's like opening a textbook to a random page every day.
Instead, you need a learning system.
A good teacher doesn't teach random topics. They follow a plan.
AI should do the same.
Build Your Own English Course
One of the most powerful ways to use AI is to ask AI to become your course designer, personal trainer, assistant, etc. before asking it to become your tutor.
Tell it:
your current English level
your learning goals
what skills you want to improve
topics you enjoy
how much time you have each day
how you learn best
Once AI understands you and your learning style, it can build a personalized learning plan that actually makes sense.
Instead of following some random coursebook, you create one designed specifically for you.

Give AI its Job: Your Personal Assistant
Another mistake people make is asking AI to do everything at once.
Instead, give it a clear role.
For example:
"You are my English speaking coach."
"You are my pronunciation teacher."
"You are my writing editor."
"You are my vocabulary coach."
When AI has one clear job, its responses become much more focused and useful.
Practice Every Day Following the Plan AI Made for You
Learning English isn't about finding the perfect app.
It's about showing up consistently.
Even one hour a day can make a huge difference if you have a clear system.
A simple daily routine could look like this:
15 minutes reviewing vocabulary
15 minutes listening practice
15 minutes speaking with AI
15 minutes writing and getting feedback
This is much more effective than studying randomly whenever you feel motivated.
Don't Let AI Do the Learning
AI should help you think; not think for you.
When AI writes everything for you, your English will NOT improve.
Instead, decide that you are the boss:
You control the chat, not AI.
You know what you need to work on, not AI.
If AI doesn’t give you what’s in the schedule for today, remind it.
Be the boss!
Then ask AI to
➪ explain your errors
➪ suggest better vocabulary
➪ correct your grammar,
➪ or explain something better.
That's where real learning happens.
