If you’re muslim and you’re not seeing a lot of improvement, much growth in your life and in your skills including English and the days go by without feeling like you have done much, the reason might be not practicing one or some of these habits in your life.
It’s strange and sad because these habits that I am about to share with you are extremely simple and basic, habits that we may be practicing every day, but without any thought and intentions behind them.
Or maybe we have forgotten their importance or essence. Their deep meaning.
These ten habits will change your English practice into acts of worship (عبادة) while helping you improve much faster. These habits will immensely change your life for the better.
Start with your intention. Before you start a class. Before you open your book, before you listen to a lesson, ask yourself these questions:
Why am I trying to become fluent?
Is it only for money?
Is it for getting a better job?
Is it for helping other people?
Because when your intention is sincere and the goal is clear, even studying English can become an act of worship and getting closer to Allah.Ask Allah for help and success. This one is super important. We live in a world that we think our school, our teacher, our boss, our employer control our future and we ask them for help.
We forget that it’s Allah who controls all affairs, all success and all failure. And when you understand and agree that the first thing you need is Allah’s help to succeed, you let go of needing other than Him as the main source. So ask Allah for help to help you achieve your goals.
Ask Him for focus when you study.
Ask Him for clarity.
Ask Him for blessings (barakah) in your time and abilities to study.
Ask Him to help you with consistency and building better habits.
Because without His help, nothing will be achieved wholly.Where Quantitative Thinkers Compete, Learn and Grow
The International Quant Championship (IQC) is one of the world's largest quantitative research competitions, bringing together 156,000+ participants globally.
Participants have the opportunity to develop quantitative research skills, challenge themselves alongside peers from around the world and connect with a global community of quantitative thinkers.
Start with Bismilah (in the Name of Allah). Before anything you start and do, say Bismilah. This one is a super habit. It is super basic and simple, but in essence and meaning, it is super super power.
Imagine including Allah’s name in everything you do including studying English. Imagine all the blessings that you can draw into your life.
Say Bismilah before starting your English lesson.
Say Bismilah before you start your car.
Say Bismilah before you open your book to study.
Say Bismilah before starting to work every day.
Doing this will remind you that Allah is with you and behind every action and deed you perform and that in itself should reassure you that you are not doing this alone. Allah is with you.Study at the best time of day. So many gurus talk about the importance of waking up early and working in the early hours of the day when everyone is asleep if you want to become successful.
Interestingly, our religion heavily emphasizes that importance of waking early, praying nightly prayer (tahajjud), praying Fajr and not going back to sleep if you want to grow, succeed and attain Allah’s pleasure in this life and the next.
From a worldly perspective, in the early hours of the day, the house is quiet and everything might be still asleep.
If you can, study and practice your Englis for 30 to 60 minutes after Fajr time.
At this time, you can focus and learn much much faster and more deeply.
The mind is fresh.
The blessings are awaiting you.
Make this a habit and see how your life can change.
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي بُكُورِهَا.
“O Allah, bless my Ummah in their early morning hours.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 2236, Sunan at-Tirmidhi 1212).
