Let me say it in the beginning: AI will not make you smarter.
You are already smart and do not let AI and ChatGPT make you think that you need it to become a smart person.

Why do I say this? Because I see English learners and English teachers using AI (artificial intelligence) Apps, softwares and websites for everything: translation, speaking practice, making lessons, reading for them, writing for them, and organizing for them to the point that they themselves are not doing anything else except giving commands and prompts.

If you are one of these people, you need to stop or slow down and take a step back.
Otherwise, you will lose your power, learning ability, creativity, and sense of real purpose.

I see a lot of English teacher accounts on social media who write about “English fluency” and “accent training” and share tips and advice on how to become fluent in English.

DO NOT FOLLOW THEM! Why?
Because they will not teach you REAL English. Almost all of their videos and posts are AI generated and there’s not a single video of themselves speaking “fluently” with the correct accent.

These owner of these accounts do not speak English fluently, if at all.
They’re trying to sell you a course to teach you English that they themselves don’t speak. LOL

Here’s how to detect if an account is fake, 100% AI generated or it’s likely a bot

  • Every post, video and audio lesson is perfect with the most perfect pronunciation.
That’s NOT how you can learn English. Learning English is messy and natural in a way that even your teachers make mistakes and mess up sometimes. And that’s how we all learn: learning from mistakes. If everything looks perfect, you want to be like that and guess what? That’s impossible.

  • They don’t show their personality, they don’t connect with their followers and subscribers by message, audio, and replies. How can we learn from people whom we can’t connect with. That means they don’t know your pain, your challenges and they don’t understand the beautiful journey you are on which is learning and seeking knowledge.

Follow role models!

Follow people whom you want to be like. That’s the essence of learning, growth and success. You should only follow accounts whose identity, personality and content resonate with you.

Use AI as a tool to assist and help you, NOT as a boss to rule over your life.
That’s the danger that we are headed and that’s the fear I have for my fellow English learners and educators and English learners.

Thanks for reading this little letter from me.

I will see you in the next one.
